this years retreat was HOPE FOR ALL SEASONS, i always enjoy seeing the stained glass i made for camp:)

we started out from stephs house, nona, kathy, marilyn, deb, steph and me..caravan over to lutherhaven, met up with our other room mates elaine, kathy and bev.

we all wanted to be in the same room, although these rooms are not made for 9! we survived, with many stories told, laughter…tears… more laughter.

key note speakers were good this year,and of course brenda always adds so much to the retreat:)

132 of us total this year………enjoyed their different sessions, then split up into our small groups for more in-depth studies, sang together with our worship team with sarah, amanda, celine and our drummer, i can’t remember her name……………….always enjoy the songs and music

then at night we enjoyed fellowship together with some of the younger girls! i loved the bottle of beer from crown brewery in crown point, indiana! i love the part about everybody welcome under the crown except: and it has the “little shrimp that runs iran”

WOW

after leaving very quickly yesterday to get to the hospital for mom, steph had the ambulance take her….. she has infection and a few other things that need attention, after hours in the emergency room, they admitted her and she told us we could leave, so she could sleep, steph, cori and i, were starving so we went to 12 islands, then headed home.

the roads were horrible, most of the way the snow was blowing across the road and we couldn’t see, I-65 was shut down at a standstill because of accidents, we took rt. 41 home and it took us over 2 1/2 hours to get home! thank the Lord we made it:) thanks rachel for the heads up!!!

after catch up sleep of 14 hours, i’m back in commission! that is after a 2:30 and 4:00 lights out… sleep over at lutherhaven’s 2010 womens retreat… with 9 of us in one room… not made for 9 beds! but we survived and laughed and cried and laughed some more, with all the stories told. HOPE ….i have to have time to digest it all, more later

going to check out the new winery here in lafayette, our fellowship board at church, is hosting a wine tasting in feb. and they needed someone to go talk to the couple that just opened the winery….. so three of us volunteered to go check it out:)

that’s later today, other than that, nothing much going on, gotta get packed for leaving tomorrow for the retreat.

we will go back it was really nice, they sell cheese from fair oaks and stuff from the 2 cookin sisters in brookston.

finally a friday and saturday to ourselves, enjoyed hanging around with nothing really that needed to be done. in the morning we are headed to hebron for church, then to grandmas for a visit with her and luke and tam and the kids:)

i have decorated my little pencil tree this year for valentines day, i love having the glow of the tree on at night, who says it has to end when you take down the christmas tree:)

macy loves sitting either next to me or on mikes lap, it’s funny how she doesn’t play favorites, she splits her time pretty much the same between mike and me:)

i love having macy around here, life would not be the same with out her:) i’m pretty biased, but isn’t she the cutest dog you have ever seen! when we take her for walks, people always comment on how pretty she is… they always want to stop and pet her and she lets anybody pet her!

today i bought her new bowls that we can bring and leave at jennings house… for when they watch macy for us…that way, we don’t have to bring ours back and forth, i mean after all it is her second home:)

pretty sure maggs will be living with us for 2 years when shel goes to korea! she doesn’t know how he would do on that long of a flight and plus he would have to be quarantined when he got over there for a bit and then when he got back here, i’d much rather have him here with us…..is that a country that eats dog!?!!?!       no really, now i just need to keep him alive til they get back! i would feel so bad if something happened to him on my watch!

got to talk with two of my best friends today…………that happen to be going on the women’s retreat with me. …ya know i think God knows that we all need to be fed and be lifted up for all of the concerns and things that we have gone through in the past year. it is great that lutherhaven’s retreat is in january, a fitting time for new beginnings and to be refreshed and to be able to handle all of the things life hands to us, on a daily basis.

this year quite appropriately the theme is HOPE FOR ALL SEASONS, our hope rests in the power of God’s presence and what better place to find God then at camp:) it is so hard in our daily hectic lives to stop and remember to do this and BE STILL and listen to God, it is easy to do at camp, you stop and remember to rest in HIS presence…. and i am so looking forward to this years retreat, the last weekend in january.

please pray for healing for a friend of mine

yesterday i headed up to moms for my usual tuesday, got up there and the secondary roads were not real good, we made it to bible study, just a little late. i find it a little ironic, i am studying THE BOOK OF CONCORD with the elca lutherans:) which i guess, it’s not even taught in their seminaries any more! at least, her pastor said he never got it!!! that explains a lot!!!

then back to the house for the laundry and bed making and reading… she has me reading something i would not read if it was my choice, but for her, i do it:) back here after dinner……never anything accomplished here on tuesdays, my laundry awaits.

today, it’s lunch with the ladies from grace, we are going to pepe’s this time, then i have a meeting tonight…. i asked all of the ladies that are setting communion this year, to be there…………yes i am now the head of the altar guild at grace. ..i took it over from a lady that had been doing it since the beginning of time!?!? no really since grace started, back in the 70’s ….i’ve been making calls and i have every sunday covered for the year 2010:) after that choir practice.

this sunday is going to be a reunion of sorts for all of the people who left st. michaels in hebron….. we are looking forward to a new beginning for all of the people who have not been attending…. we are planning on going back to support their efforts and praying God has great things in store for them as a church family.
