The community lies on the 17-mile Hope Highway, northwest of the <a title=\"Seward Highway\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seward_Highway\">Seward Highway<\/a>, near the mouth of Resurrection Creek. Winter temperatures range from 14 to 27; summer temperatures vary from 45 to 65. Average annual precipitation is 20\u00a0inches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hope City&#8221; was a mining camp for <a title=\"Resurrection Creek (page does not exist)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Resurrection_Creek&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Resurrection Creek<\/a>, established in 1896. The Hope post office began operating in 1897.
