the common name of buckeye was given to the tree by the Native Americans, who observed that the seeds of the tree look similar to the eye of a buck, or male deer.

we found these the other night, while walking part on the wabash trail! buckeyes… at the end of the trail….we started walking near the trails banquet place and walked about 2 miles, we lost the trail at one point and had to do a little creek stomping! the trail was following burnetts creek, we ended up on the other side of the wabash, after crossing an old bridge…. macy did not like it at all, she was jumping around in the deep part like she was on drugs!!! needless to say they both ended up in the bath tub when we got home!

  1. I bet that was beautiful on those trails.
Always fun to find buckeyes but, I have a handful of buckeyes that my grandfather gave me when I was about 10-11. Mean a lot to me.
He always carried one in his pocket every day. 🙂
